Laureen Topalian
I am a painter living in France and I finished the Academy of Fine Arts in Paris with a degree in painting.
I studied Persian Miniature painting with the Master Abbas Moayeri.
In my work I use traditional principles and techniques (mostly those of Persian Painting) to create imaginary compositions.
I love the insubstantial universe of Persian painting such as the way in which gouache is applied in flat tints and which is enhanced through the " pardasht " work : little touches with a brush which allows contrasts in colors.
I have also used these Persian Painting technique for the illustration of books and stories for French publishers.
In 2008 I received the Saint Exupery Prize for my illustrated book entitled "Le Prince Tisserand".
