Katayoun is a multi-media installation artist with specialty in ceramic arts. Her Alangoo shop presents a collection of utilitarian and wearable sculptures that take inspiration from Iranian culture. Designed for everyday life, each piece combines the unpolished nature of ancient arts with sleek modern aesthetics. Every piece in the collection makes a timeless statement with its use of texture, pattern, and color; telling a nostalgic story that connects with past and present. The main source of inspiration behind her work comes from the simplest and earliest surviving man-made forms, iconic cultural images, and pre-historic motifs. Her art is an attempt to understand the relationship between past and present, tradition and modernity, and individual versus collective identity, as well as to spur discussion about our understanding of time and history.
