Ayesha Safa Jewelry is a contemporary interpretation of Islamic geometric design. Each pattern is an aggregate of shapes that fit within a single grid. My process involves deconstructing patterns into simple shapes, like a pentagon or cross, and assembling them until the intersecting lines recreate the components from the original pattern. It is the moments of intersection that I find most exciting - that from simple shapes emerge complex patterns. I hope my jewelry can establish intersections too; intersections between culture and faith, stories and ideas, past and present, to make the connections so necessary in the world we live in today.
